About Dan

Dan Stockdale, PhD candidate, MA, CNHA, CALA

Dan StockdaleAs the son of a nurse👩‍⚕️ and pastor ⛪️, I am passionate about serving others and about life! Growing up under the influence of two parents who served others, I gained an appreciation for my purpose on earth. Serving the elderly in healthcare since 1979 has been one expression of my care calling.

On the professional operations side of life I am a healthcare executive with a mission to improve the quality of life for the elderly. I do this by creating great cultures for team members who in turn take excellent care of the elderly we serve. My professional achievements include being licensed in 7 states as a nursing home administrator, obtained emergency permits in 2 additional states and have been appointed by CMS as a Temporary Manager. I also earned the professional designations of Certified Nursing Home Administrator (CNHA) and Certified Assisted Living Administrator (CALA).

I thoroughly enjoy working on senior living building design, marketing and design; implementing themed destinations in facilities and communities, and enhancing the customer experience (CX) for our team members, families and most importantly, our residents.

Although senior housing communities and nursing homes in particular focus primarily on the clinical aspect of care, I am a firm believer we must also focus on entertainment and hospitality. Great care is expected; and life can be greatly enhanced with meaningful activities that are catered to each residents interest as well as providing delicious, well-presented, home-cooked meals with menus that are driven by residents favorite recipes from home.

My secret recipe? (Shhhhh… don’t tell anybody… it will be our little secret). Here it is if you promise not to share 😉
Add a dash of Disney, a heaping helping of home cooking, a teaspoon of Times Square, a sprinkle of SeaWorld, season with some Seulu and Shangri La and mix it with love in a bowl of senior housing! Voilà!

Dan Hiking MountainsOn the personal side I have more interests than I can count. I’ve been a licensed pilot since I was 18 years old, scuba diver, amateur radio operator, world sojourner, travel vlogger, adventurer, ultralight hiker, sailor, tiger trainer, theme park performer, fire eater, sock monkey aficionado ….and (don’t judge me) I am relearning to crochet and learning to ride a unicycle (though not both at the same time).

Educationally I love learning and am a lifetime student. I completed by BA in psychology when I was 30 (I’m slow but sure… it was the 12-year plan), an MA in corporate communication and MBA coursework in my 40’s and am now working on a PhD in my 50’s.

Through my work and education I have developed an appreciation of marketing and pr and have used my skills in these areas to further my life messages of caring for the elderly and wildlife conservation. I have been honored to appear on local, national and international media outlets such as CNN, Fox News Channel, Fox Business Network, New York Times, Chicago Tribune, WebMD, ABC and many others. I have also served as a background expert for various others.

So, welcome to a glimpse of my eclectic world… a professionally purpose-driven, hopefully educated, yet fun place to live.
